7 Seconds - Leave A Light On

On the band's first full length in nine years. 7 Seconds, a band that is now thirty four years deep into their existence show no signs of ever slowing down or becoming a nostalgia act. Though time and age rarely serve bands well.
The years have been very good to Kevin and crew.
Now in their fifty's, the Reno pioneers of Positive Hardcore prove that Hardcore music is more than a passing trend or phase we go through in our teens and early twenties.
Core values that gave birth to positive hardcore still ring true while serving as inspiration for much of the material on
"Leave the Light on."
Featuring fourteen songs of uplifting, anthemic songs that you'll be singing along to from the get go. Anthems such as "Slogan on a Shirt", "I Have Faith in You",
"30 Years (And Still Going Wrong)" and "Leave the Light On" serve a stand outs for me personally. Overall, this is about as good as it gets. In my opinion, the best thing 7 Seconds has done in their post "Ourselves" lifespan. Get it. Listen. Love it. Live it.

7 Seconds - My Aim is You / Slogan on a Shirt

To be honest, it's been quite a long time since I gave any recording post 'Soulforce Revolution'
in close to ten years, if not more. Interesting, considering how important the band has been from the very earliest stages of my punk and hardcore existence.
My very first show at CBGB's was
7 Seconds. A night when me and my best friend Danny Doyle ventured down to the Bowery and didn't return until the next morning.
As the needle dropped on
'My Aim is True' I was immediately transformed into that fifteen year old kid who found his first
7 Seconds record in the back of a Queens, NY record store called "Numbers" and quickly feel in love with positive Hardcore. Inspiring anthems and pile on worthy choruses take my memories and love for this band from the rear view mirror to the present and the future. Just a great record in every sense.

The 7 inch also marks the bands debut on Rise Records and goes rather nicely with the bands just released re-issues. Thanks to the band for all the memories. Both old and new. James Damion

Go Deep - Counseling EP

After seeing Go Deep play a short, yet impressive set at the Stolen Sleeves Collective in Brooklyn a few weeks back.
I decided to investigate a little further to see what I could dig up about this seemingly unknown band.

The band plays an explosive brand of mid paced, positive Hardcore that has this relatively new band sounding more like seasoned veterans than new kids at the table. Go Deep's core revolves around
Kris Kneale and Danny Rico and hopes act as somewhat of a collective in the future with various players contributing.

On "Counseling" these Brooklyn vegans deliver the goods in short, distinctive bursts. Though each of the five songs featured come in at under two and a half minutes; they leave a lasting impression on the listener. The EP opens with "Late Notice" which rolls in slowly before delivering a devastating blow. "Elders" the EP's third track is, for lack of a better word, colossal. The songs tough riffs are insane and an apocalyptic feast. "Counseling" is currently available for download on their Bandcamp with hopes of being pressed sometime this summer. Regardless, Go Deep is off to an impressive start. I'm looking forward to hearing more from them in the future. James Damion
